Mission, Vision & Values

Mission Statement:

As a family with God in our hearts, we love, laugh and learn.

St Joseph is our patron saint and he inspires and guides us in our school mission:

Each one of us is part of God’s family and we are all special.

As God’s children and family we love one another, pray together, play together and walk hand in hand with God.

God is our teacher and we are his gifts. He helps us learn together, work hard and do our best to make our world a better place.

With fun, laughter and friendship we celebrate God’s love.

We respect and care for everyone and for God’s wonderful world.

 Virtues to Live By

There are 12 additional virtues chosen by the Diocese of Leeds which are taken from their Virtues to Live by resource which is used by St Joseph's to help the children grow and develop the virtues further. Each half term is dedicated to focusing on two of these virtues.

The virtues are threaded through lessons and activities across the curriculum.

Prayer and Liturgy

Prayer and liturgy are at the heart of life in our Catholic primary school, guiding everything we do. Through daily prayer, reflective worship, and joyful celebrations, we create opportunities for our children to grow in their faith and deepen their relationship with God. Our liturgical calendar is woven into school life, with key moments such as Masses, assemblies, and seasonal celebrations bringing our community together in worship. We encourage our pupils to lead and participate in prayer, fostering a sense of spiritual growth, reverence, and a strong connection to our Catholic values

Our children are supported in leading worship in school. We have set out our school's expectations for worship across the school:

Charity work

A brilliant example of how the children put kindness and service into action is through their charitable work. Each class has selected their own Class Charity (see class pages). The Mini Vinnies come up with lots of great ideas for helping the local community as well as communities further afield. The last year has provided lots of challenges for fund raising activities but that hasn’t stopped the children and they have persevered to find new ways of helping others and raising funds for some great causes.
